A member of the mint family with highly scented perennial herb with heart-shaped leaves and small white flowers during spring and summer.
The leaves have a lemony mint scent that can be used fresh or dry for herbal teas and desserts.

In mild temperate climates the stems of the plant die off at the start of the winter, but shoot up again in spring.
Lemon balm is clump-forming and does not run like mint. Native to south-central Europe, North Africa, the Mediterranean region, and Central Asia.

Adaptable to most well-drained fertile garden soils in a sunny position

Grow notes:

Prefers moist, well-drained soil in an open sunny position, cold resistant. 

Tropical: Spring to Autumn. 
Temperate: Spring to Early Autumn.
Cold: Spring to Early Autumn.

Sow: 5mm deep.
For best results sow directly into the soil where they are to grow. If growing on trays transplant when large enough to handle avoid excessive root disturbance.

Germination: 5-10 days.
Maturity: 8 weeks
