Red romaine lettuce has long crunchy spoon shaped leaves that start green and fade to profuse purple red. This lettuce is often used in Caesar salads for its crunch and colour. Use red romaine lettuce for incredible edible purple borders in your flower beds.
Prefers moist fertile well-drained soil but grows well in almost any garden soil in a sunny position with adequate water. Grow fast with plenty of water and regular feeds of liquid manure to avoid bitterness.
