LETTUCE Selway Red (Heirloom)

An excellent heirloom Lollo Rossa type loose leaf lettuce with ornamental deep red/purple frilled leaves making it an exceptional lettuce for adding colour to salad bowl.

A good variety of lettuce that can be harvested as baby-leaf or full leaf. Continuous picking extends the growing season. Colour intensifies increases with exposure to heat or frost.

Growing instructions

Prefers moist fertile well-drained soil but grows well in almost any garden soil in a sunny position with adequate water. Grow fast with plenty of water and regular feeds of liquid manure to avoid bitterness.

Sow: 3mm deep.
Sow direct or grow in trays of a good seed raising mix and transplant when large enough to handle.

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
