Lactuca sativa belongs to the Lactuca genus within the Asteraceae family, which also includes Sunflowers and Asters.
Lettuce-zeppelin is a variety of Green Oak Leaf, distinguished by its dark green, smooth leaves with lobed margins and suitable for baby leaf production.
It exhibits good vigour, holds well in the field at maturity, and possesses excellent resistance to downy mildew rate of 16-28.
Prefers moist fertile well-drained soil but grows well in almost any garden soil in a sunny position with adequate water. Grow fast with plenty of water and regular feeds of liquid manure to avoid bitterness.

Lettuce can be cultivated throughout the year in most climates. Avoid planting during extremely hot or cold weather, as it can negatively affect germination and growth.
Sow seed directly in the growing position or grow in trays of a good seed-raising mix and transplant when large enough to handle.
