Long popular in cottage gardens this is a rugged and easy perennial for any sunny border. Plants form an upright clump of bright green leaves, with taller stems in summer that bear large clusters of scarlet-orange flowers.
Excellent for cutting.
Prefers a damp soil in a protected partially shaded position. Clumps can be divided in spring and autumn.
Tropical: Autumn and Winter.
Temperate: Spring to Mid Summer.
Cool climate: Spring to Early-Summer.
Sow: 1mm deep. Do not bury deeply.
Sown direct or sow in trays and transplant when large enough to handle.
Plant in a well-drained soil in a sunny position.
