Weeping Paperbark

The plant family Myrtaceae arose between 56 and 60 million years ago. Pollen fossils have been sourced to the ancient supercontinent Gondwana breakup.
Regions that were part of Gondwana shared flora and fauna elements that persist to the present day.
Melaleuca leucadendron Fine Leaf grows to 5-10 or bigger when an old tree.
The weeping growth habit of this tree leads to the common name Weeping Paperbark.
Creamy white fragrant flowers occur from March to October on the ends of the branches
The leaves of Weeping Paperbark are narrow and pointed 2-4 centimetres long.
An adaptable tree that will grow in sandy soil, sandstone and along watercourses and swamps.
Drought tolerant and Frost tender.
Occurs naturally in Swan Coastal Plain, Central Kimberley, Dampierland, Darwin Coastal, Great Sandy Desert, Northern Kimberley, Ord Victoria Plain, Pilbara, Swan Coastal Plain and Victoria Bonaparte in Western Australia, extending along the coast of the Northern Territory and Queensland.
In 1767, Carl Linnaeus was the first one to use the name Melaleuca, which we still call it today. This name also refers to the Baeckea, Kunzea, and Leptospermum species during Captain James Cook's maiden voyage to Australia, sailors used the leaves from these different shrubs as an alternative for tea.
Propagation is easy from seed.
Melaleuca seed is generally best sown in spring or autumn avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year.

Sow on surface of the growing mix.
Germination generally occurs in around 14-28 days at 18-22°C
Sow directly for re-vegetation projects.
