A vigorous twining vine with large tubular flowers ending in five spreading lobes. The flowers are usually pale pink with a deep pink throat.
Flowering occurs over a long period between spring and late summer.
A popular plant in cultivation that is very hardy in topical or temperate regions.
It is ideally suited to growing on a fence or trellis. It prefers a reliable water supply but, once established, will tolerate extended dry periods.
Endemic to New South Wales and Queensland.
Prefers medium to heavy soil in a protected shaded position, drought resistant but frost tender.
Grow notes:
Although seed can be sown most of the year in many parts of Australia seed is generally best sown in spring or autumn in temperate climates, avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year. The optimum germination temperature for germination is around 18-24°C for this species.
Germinates readily from Seed.
General note: Seeds of many natives are dormant and require specific conditions or pre-treatment for germination.
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
