Although the name suggests otherwise this heirloom variety originated in France and dates back over 200 hundred years. The roots of this heirloom variety are shorter than many of today’s long hybrids and are often referred to as 'Guernsey Half Long’ because of this.
A medium-long variety with thick broad shoulders and an attractive smooth white skin. It has a sweet, nut-like flavour and considered to be one of the very best roasting varieties.
Adaptable to most garden soils in a sunny position. Avoid deformed roots by planting them in loose soil free from stones or rocks.
