Penstemon is from the same family of plants Digitalis "Plantaginaceae"
The One-Sided Beardtongue is a perennial wildflower found in the Rocky Mountains' lower foothills. It typically grows in mountain meadows, Ponderosa woodlands, and Juniper woodlands.
The tubular and purple flowers grow on one side of the stem.
The leaves are long and narrow, and the plants are taller and sturdier than the Narrow-Leaved Beardtongue.
The flowers attract native bees and butterflies, making them great for pollinator plantings. The plant can tolerate sandy to clay soils.
