This pumpkin variety is an early-maturing type, weighing around 1.5 kilograms, and has excellent eating quality. The fruits are uniformly shaped and flattened, similar to the "Grey Crown" and "Long Island Cheese" varieties, but they have the beige colour of a Buttercup Pumpkin. The flesh of the fruits is rich orange in color with a small seed cavity.

This variety produces around five fruits on compact, semi-bush-type vines, making it ideal for small spaces and a good keeper.

It is a very versatile variety with a great taste. It is ideal for roasting or steaming as a vegetable or use in pumpkin pies and roasts.

Adaptable to most good garden soils but prefers rich soil with a generous amount of water in full sun.

Pumpkins are a warm-season plant.

The best time to sow pumpkins in Australia

  • In temperate and cool climates, sow or plant pumpkins in spring to early summer, after the danger of frost has passed.
  • For most regions of Australia, plant pumpkins from mid-September through December.
  • In arid regions like central Australia, plant pumpkins in late spring to early summer, usually between October and December.
  • In mild zones of Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania, it is best to sow the pumpkins in spring, from September to November.

Harvest pumpkins in all climates during Autumn when the stalks dry.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate; keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
