This marvellous old heirloom pumpkin dating back to 1890 grows on short vines and produces superb fruits to 3kg. The great tasting, sweet smooth flesh with a silky texture are ideal for pies or puree.
Winter Luxury is not only a attractive ornamental but is also superb for eating.
Pumpkin is a good source of vitamin A & C, folate, potassium, niacin and dietary fibre.
Pumpkins are a warm-season plant.
The best time to sow pumpkins in Australia
- In temperate and cool climates, sow or plant pumpkins in spring to early summer, after the danger of frost has passed.
- For most regions of Australia, plant pumpkins from mid-September through December.
- In arid regions like central Australia, plant pumpkins in late spring to early summer, usually between October and December.
- In mild zones of Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania, it is best to sow the pumpkins in spring, from September to November.
Harvest pumpkins in all climates during Autumn when the stalks dry.
