An attractive plant with lush glossy dark green foliage and an open habit can be grown as a potted plant indoors or in landscaping in similar way as a ficus.

Although it is primarily popular as a house plant it will rarely flower indoors. Outdoors it can grow to around 9 meters tal and produce highly fragrant large white or yellow night-blooming trumpet-shaped flowers.

Prefers a rich free draining soil with adequate access to water in a sunny or partly shaded position.
Native to the subtropical mountain regions of southern China and Taiwan where it can grow up to 30m in high with a trunk of 1 metre in diameter.

Grow notes:

Although seed can be sown most of the year in many parts of Australia seed is generally best sown in spring or autumn, avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year. The optimum germination temperature for germination is around 24-27°C

1. Sow seed on surface and cover lightly.
2. Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
3. Do not over water or allow the grow mix to dry out.
4. Maintain heat and high *humidly, germination will be extended by cool temperatures.
5. Ensure the mix is moist but not water logged.
6. Germination generally occurs in around 15-30 days in the right conditions but may take longer in cool conditions.

* Humidity can be maintained by covering the container with a plastic bag 

General note: Seeds of many natives are dormant and require specific conditions or pre-treatment for germination.
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
