This ever popular Salvia produces lance shaped foliage with long lasting flower spikes in a mix of colours including red, lilac, violet and white that bloom throughout summer.
Salvias are very hardy and require little attention once established, can be pruned just above ground level at the end of flowering season for another display the following summer. Outstanding for bedding, mass planting, borders or containers.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Year round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 14-21 days.
Plant space: 25 cm
Flowering: 12 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
