A compact cultivar that grows to 30 cm tall with rich green foliage produces vivid scarlet flower spikes with an invigorating fragrance throughout summer.
Ideal for cottage gardens, bedding, pots or containers as well as being outstanding for mass planting.
Salvia splendens is native to Brazil and is an excellent nectar producer attracting pollinating insects and nectar-feeding birds
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Year round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 14-21 days.
Plant space: 25 cm
Flowering: 12 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
