This is an upright bushy perennial that is native to Brazil and widely grown for its upright fiery red spiked flowers. Outstanding for mass planting, borders or containers.
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Year round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, avoid excessive root disturbance.
