Salvia Salsa Burgundy are an outstanding dwarf Salvia cultivar that makes an ideal addition to the garden with its vibrant mass of dark red-burgundy blooms with an invigorating fragrance over a long season.
Salvias are very hardy and require little attention once established, can be pruned just above ground level at the end of the flowering season for another display the following summer.
Ideal for cottage gardens, bedding, pots or containers as well as being outstanding for mass planting.
Salvia splendens is native to Brazil and is an excellent nectar producer attracting pollinating insects and nectar-feeding birds.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Year-round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, to avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 14-21 days.
Plant space: 25 cm
Flowering: 12 weeks
