SALVIA splendens - Salsa Scarlet Bicolor

Bred for its incredible flowers the cultivar Salsa gives you maximum visual impact in a host of vibrant colours that bloom throughout summer with an invigorating fragrance.
Salvias are very hardy and require little attention once established, can be pruned just above ground level at the end of the flowering season for another display the following summer. 
Ideal for cottage gardens, bedding, pots or containers as well as being outstanding for mass planting.

Salvia splendens is native to Brazil and is an excellent nectar producer attracting pollinating insects and nectar-feeding birds.

Grow notes:

Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.

Tropical: Year-round. 
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.

Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, to avoid excessive root disturbance.

Germination: 14-21 days.
Plant space: 25 cm
Flowering: 12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
