The family of Myrtaceae arose between 60 and 56 million years ago during the breakup of the supercontinent Gondwana
An erect shrub, spreading to a laying down position, 0.2-1.5 metres high, with pink-white flowers blooming throughout spring and summer. Each flower has a diameter of 8 mm.
Scholtzia involucrata with its masses of shell-pink flowers is a standout plant in gardens and landscaping throughout the summer months. The inflorescence, resembling a spike with small flowers in groups of 3-5, can be found towards the ends of stems and arises each flowering season on new growth.
The evergreen leaves are 4 to 9 millimetres in length.
They occur naturally in the Avon Wheatbelt, Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah Forest and the Swan Coastal Plain in Western Australia

Scholtzia is a genus in the family Myrtaceae, which is endemic to the southwest of Western Australia. The genus was first described by Schauer in 1843, who named it in honour of the physician Heinrich Scholtz
Propagation Scholtzia from seed can naturally have variable germination of around 40%
Scholtzia seed is generally best sown in spring or autumn, so avoid the coldest and hottest months.
Pre-treatment of smoke is recommended.
This genus is responsive to smoke, and although it is not critical for the germination of this species, it is usually beneficial in reducing the number of days to germination and increasing germination rates.Smoke treatments are available by clicking here.
Germination generally occurs in around 14 to 20 days18-22°C but may take longer depending on the conditions.
