Senna notabilis, commonly known as Tinki Tink or cockroach bush, is a dense, rounded shrub that typically grows between 0.5 to 1.5 meters in height and occasionally up to 2.1 meters.
It is known for its attractive yellow flowers, which bloom from April to October, depending on the location.
It has pinnate leaves with six to twelve pairs of lance-shaped leaflets and yellow flowers arranged in groups of twenty to thirty, with seven fertile stamens in each flower.
Tolerates various soils, including red sandy, clay or stony soils. Drought tolerates but frost tender.
It is a useful shrub that requires little maintenance and attracts birds and insects.
Senna is part of the legume family Fabaceae and is native to northern Australia.
For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.
- soak in water for 24-48 hours.
- Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
- Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

- Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
- As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
