An old heirloom variety of swede that produces globe-shaped roots with purple crowns up to 15 cm across. American Purple Top has mild yellow, fine-grained firm flesh and is best harvested in the 100-150mm range.
The fine-flavoured sweet flesh turns orange when cooked. Young leaves can also be used as greens in salads and stir-fries. Stores well, 90 days to maturity.

Sow: 6 mm deep.
