One of the earliest Sweet Pea varieties to flower, Mammoth has big bold beautiful mid-blue blooms with strong stems and a delicate scent. An excellent choice for early spring colour and an exceptional garden performer.
Traditionally the 17th of March, St Patrick's Day, is the date used as a guide for sowing sweet peas in many parts of Australia.
Grow notes:
Pre-treatment: Soak seed in water overnight.
Sow: 25 mm deep.
Tropical climates: Late summer Autumn
Sub-tropical climates: Autumn
Temperate climates: Autumn
Cold climates: Spring or Late summer-mid Autumn.
Germination: 10-14 days.
Seed can also be started by soaking the seed overnight and placing it on a moist paper towel and folding it over. Put the paper towel with the seed in a plastic bag and place it on top of the refrigerator. Check daily for moisture content and any seed that has germinated. Seeds should start to germinate in 3-5 days after which they can be sown at the required depth.
