An Heirloom variety "Purple Top White Globe" is a large turnip growing to 10-15 cm across with a deliciously sweet and tender white root with purple tops.
Turnips are a very hardy vegetable and easy to grow, originally from Russia and were enjoyed by the ancient Greeks and Romans. The tops are used in salads or cooked and the roots, which are most tender when young, can be used in soups, casseroles, mashed, or steamed.

Grow notes:

Adaptable to most good garden soils prefers an open sunny position.

Tropical: Spring to Autumn.
Temperate: Spring to Autumn.
Cold: Spring to Autumn.

Sow: 3mm deep.
For best results sow direct where they are to grow
Germination: 10-14 days.
Plant space: 20-30cm
Row space: 20-30cm
Maturity: 8-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
