An old viola with large 5 cm circular flowers in rich deep velvety purple with a darker bluish surround, darker veins and a yellow eye. A large pansy leaf with a strong stem. Use as a groundcover, in borders and rockery, in baskets, containers and tubs.
Tropical: Late Summer and Autumn.
Temperate: Late Summer and Autumn.
Cool climate: Late Summer and Autumn or Early Spring.
Sow: 6 mm deep
Best sown in trays and transplant when large enough to handle avoiding excessive root disturbance, approx. 6 weeks.
Plant in a well-drained soil in a sunny position.

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
