Champagne is a sweet oval-shaped watermelon with pale orange flesh and a pale-green skin striped with darker green.  Champagne melons are great eaten fresh on their own or in salads.  Champagne Juice make’s a refreshing drink or alternate the slices on fruit platters with red varieties on fruit platers for a striking effect.

Best sown direct early in the season. For earlier planting in cooler climates raise in pots in warm conditions and transplant after 3-4 weeks. Requires temperatures of around 18-20°C for germination. 
Sow in rows 40-60cm between plants and in rows 120cm apart
If sowing direct, plant 3-4 seeds 15mm deep in mounds, later thinning to the two strongest plants.
Plant in a free-draining soil in a position with full sun. 
For best results fertilise and keep well watered, keep soil moist and avoid overhead watering where possible. 
Harvest after 75-90 days when the stem turns brown and begins to break away from fruit.
