A fast-growing tree often forms several trunks and can form impenetrable thickets with triangular lobes turning brilliant red in autumn.
New growth shoots are green, often with a whitish to pink or violet waxy coating when young.
Can be easily trained as a bonsai specimen.

Prefers a well-drained light to medium alkaline in a protected sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender.
