A long, red carrot rich in vitamins and minerals. It is especially high in the anti-oxidant lycopene, which is also found in tomatoes. When raw, its roots are light pink and somewhat rough in appearance. When peeled and cooked, the carrots turn blood red in colour. The flavour and texture are also significantly improved by cooking.
Carrots grow best in full sun but tolerate some shade. Avoid deformed carrots by planting them in loose soil free from stones or rocks.
