One of the most popular peppers grown in Mexico, the plant is multi stemmed and can reach 60 cm (24”) in height. The pod itself is up to 7-15 cm (3-6”) long and about 5-7 cm (2-3”) wide. An immature poblano is dark purplish green in colour but eventually turns a red so dark as to be nearly black. Poblanos can be stored and even frozen in containers for many months until you are ready to use them. You can also choose to dry the peppers out for later use.
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained, well fed soil in a sunny position. Annual in temperate climates perennial in the tropics.
