Maturity: 15-20 weeks
Best sown directly early in the season. For earlier planting in cooler climates, raise pots in warm conditions and transplant them after 3-4 weeks. Requires temperatures of around 18-20°C for germination.
Sow in rows 40-60cm between plants and in rows 120cm apart
If sowing direct, plant 3-4 seeds 15mm deep in mounds, later thinning to the two strongest plants.
Plant in free-draining soil in a position with full sun.
For best results fertilise and keep well watered, keep the soil moist and avoid overhead watering where possible.
Harvest after 100 days when the stem turns brown and begins to break away from the fruit.
