A large old Australian variety of pumpkin with dark slate grey heavily ribbed skin. Fruits mature to 3-5 kg (6-11 lbs) with a sweet, deep orange flesh.
A top variety of pumpkin that keeps extremely well.

Adaptable to most good garden soils but prefers a rich soil with generous amount of water in full sun.

The best time to sow pumpkins in Australia
- In temperate and cool climates, sow or plant pumpkins in spring to early summer, after the danger of frost has passed.
- For most regions of Australia, plant pumpkins from mid-September through December.
- In arid regions like central Australia, plant pumpkins in late spring to early summer, usually between October and December.
- In mild zones of Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania, it is best to sow the pumpkins in spring, from September to November.
Harvest pumpkins in all climates during Autumn when the stalks dry.
