Acacia elachantha is a fast-growing shrub 1 to 5 metres tall with elongated flowers that occur from mid-winter to late autumn in its native range.
Phyllodes (leaves) are approximatly upto 20cm long a 2cm wide when mature.
As with most Acaica they do not have true leaves but phyllodes which are flattened leaf stalks which have adapted to look like and function as leaves.
Prefers a well-drained soil and is tolerant to drought.
A hardy species are suitable for arid and semi-arid conditions.
Occurs mainly in the tropical arid zone region extending from the Pilbara and Kimberley regions in Western Australia into the Northern Territory, Central and South-Western Queensland and the far north-eastern South Australia.
For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
