An attractive flowering Acacia with dark red-purple flower buds opening to beautiful yellow flowers with red centres from May to October in its natural distribution range.
Typically a gnarled shrub or tree 1.5 to 4 metres occasionally up to 8 meters in height with thick corky bark and ovate to elliptic prickly phyllodes (leaves)

Endemic to the hot dryer regions of the Pilbara in Western Australia extending east into the sandy regions of the Northern Territory.

Adaptable to sandy, loamy and rocky soils that are well drained. Drought tolerant with the ability to survive on minimal rainfall.

For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.

  1.  soak in water for 24-48 hours.
  2. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  3. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
