A bushy shrub or tree growing from 2–6 m high depending on conditions.
Simple inflorescences occur singly in the leaf axils and have oblong to short cylindrical flower heads 10 to 12 mm that occur from May to November.
Like most species of Acacia, it has phyllodes rather than true leaves.
The phyllodes are rigid with a pungent point and 10 to 22 cm in length and 1 to 1.5 mm wide. Drought tolerant, suitable to arid conditions.
Occurs naturally in the regions of the Central Ranges, Coolgardie, Gascoyne, Gibson Desert, Great Victoria Desert, Little Sandy Desert, Murchison and Yalgoo in Western Australia.
For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
