Characteristics: Annual 60-100 cm

Native to tropical America; an intensely red coloured amaranth that makes an attractive addition to the flower bed and has the added bonus of leaves high in protein, vitamins, and minerals.
A very vigorous plant that can be cut young and are perfect for colouring up salads or used like spinach. Stems can also be cooked.
Grow notes:
Tropical: Winter to Mid-Spring.
Temperate: Late Winter to Early-Summer.
Cold: Spring
Sow: 5mm deep.
For best results sow directly into soil where they are to grow.
Germination: 7-14 days.

Row space: 1 metre
Maturity: 10-12 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
Adaptable to most soils in a sunny position. Drought resistant but frost tender.
