A smaller Kangaroo Paw mistook for a miniature Anigozanthos mangles that produces attractive red and green-yellow flowers on short stalks from August to October in its native range.
A perennial herb consisting of strap like leaves arising from underground rhizomes. Flowers occur in cluster on stalks which emerge from the base of the leaves. Ideal size for small gardens or containers. Looks great when mass planted.
Occurs naturally in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren in the South West Province of Western Australia.
Prefers light to heavy soils in an open sunny position. It is drought and frost resistant. Avoid overhead watering in summer and water at the base of the plant.
The family of Haemodoraceae are best sown in late winter to early spring.
If sowing at other times avoid the coldest and hottest months.
Pre-treatment of smoke recommended.

Germination generally occurs in around 24-28 days but may take longer depending on the conditions.
