This widely popular old-fashioned herbaceous perennial Shasta Daisy Alaska produces an abundance of flowers with pure white petals and yellow centres 6-8cm in diameter on 60 cm stems.
Attracts beneficial insects to the garden. Remove spent flowers to promote longer bloom.
These large long-lived clump-forming plants make excellent border fillers and are superb for cutting.
Grow notes:
Tropical: Summer and Autumn.
Temperate: Spring, Summer, and Autumn.
Cold: Spring and Autumn.
Sow: 3mm deep.
Sow direct or sow in trays and transplant when large 7-8cm tall.
Plant space: 30cm
Germination: 14-21 days
Flowering: 18-20 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
