An orange spiky cucumber with a subtle banana and passionfruit flavour.
African horned cucumber is a traditional food plant indigenous to Southern and Central Africa that can be eaten young, mature green or when yellow ripe. can be eaten fresh, made into juice, or used in a fruit salad.

The fruit's seeds are covered in a gelatine-like substance with slight sweetness. Boiling it until soft, the fruit can be made into a jelly by straining it and again boiling the fruit pulp with a cup of sugar for each cup of water.

A long keeper, it is believed to have arrived in Australia with Boer War soldiers; it is also known as Kiwano or Jelly Melon.

Cucumbers are a warm-season crop; they will thrive when grown under full sun. The best way to sow them is in well-drained soil with compost and mature animal manure mixed trough.
Sow 2-3 seeds in a mound and thin to the strongest two directly in the garden 10mm deep and 50cm apart, with rows 100cm apart. Keep soil moist and avoid drying out.
Germination occurs in around 5-10 days at an optimum soil temperature of 18-34°C
