This mat-forming perennial is originally from Europe and produces a beautiful mixture of pink, dark rose, and white flowers. It is highly recommended for rock gardens, the front of borders, and fragrant gardens. It also does well in tubs and mixed containers. However, it does not thrive in areas with excessive heat and humidity.

This plant is a recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit for its reliable performance in the garden.
To encourage a second flush of flowers later in the season, it is best to deadhead.

Dianthus deltoidesis a species in the Caryophyllaceae family that are native to most of Europe and western Asia. It can also be found in many parts of North America, where it is an introduced species.

Dianthus deltoidesis is an herbaceous perennial plant growing to 45 centimetres tall with very narrow green or glaucous leaves forming a loosely tufted plant.

Dianthus seeds can be sown almost year-round, avoiding the hottest months in most Australian climates.

  1. Best sown intrays or contaiers just below the surface and cover lightly.
  2. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle.
  3. If mass planting as a meadow scatter seeds and rake over

Germination: 7-21 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
