This mat-forming perennial is originally from Europe and produces a beautiful mixture of pink, dark rose, and white flowers. It is highly recommended for rock gardens, the front of borders, and fragrant gardens. It also does well in tubs and mixed containers. However, it does not thrive in areas with excessive heat and humidity.
This plant is a recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit for its reliable performance in the garden.
To encourage a second flush of flowers later in the season, it is best to deadhead.

Dianthus and Carnation seeds are small and need to be planted on a fine-sifted bed of compost or potting soil.
The growing medium should not be wet and soggy.
Mist spray the surface of the growing medium. Spread the seeds as evenly as possible on the surface, and mist spray again.
Cover the seeds with a thin layer of vermiculate or sifted potting soil/compost. Ensure the seeds are placed in a well-lit position, as this is vital for their growth and development. Regular mist spraying is also recommended.
Once the seeds germinate, keep the seedlings moist but not wet.
When to sow.
Transplant seedlings when they are large enough to handle. (2.5 to 5 cm)
Seeds should germinate in around 14 – 21 days.
