A hardy low-growing succulent with fleshy green leaves and daisy-like flowers in vibrant shades of orange, pink, purple, red, white and yellow.
The Livingstone daisy also known as Iceplant or stone plant makes an excellent ground cover, creates colourful borders and works well in containers
Native to semi-desert areas of South Africa, Livingstone daisies grow quickly and can reseed in inhospitable spots.
Water sparingly throughout the growing season.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most garden soils that are well-drained and not too fertile, will tolerate drought once established, water sparing throughout the growing season.
Tropical: Autumn to early winter.
Temperate: Winter and spring.
Cold: Late summer to early autumn or mid-spring.
Sow: Sow on the surface and firm into the soil, cover just enough to hold the seed in place. Keep moist whilst germination occurs.
For best results sow directly into the soil where they are to grow.
Germination: 10-14 days at 15-20°C
Plant space: 20-30cm
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
