A popular medicinal herb that produces large, rose-purple flowers with prickly, dome-shaped centres. Purple Coneflowers are easy to grow and long-blooming and highly recommended for home gardens, meadow gardening, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens and wildlife mixes as well also making good-cut flowers.
Purple Coneflower is native to the central and eastern regions of the USA where it can be found in open woods, thickets and prairies.
Native Americans used the plant as a traditional medicine to treat many ailments,
Much of the purple coneflower plant makes Echinacea, including the leaves, stems, roots, and flowers.
Echinacea is used in a wide variety of natural products made from these plants, some of which are used to treat immune system disorders, bacterial infections, and viral infections. It is believed that Echinacea improves the healing process of skin wounds. It may also control inflammation.
Please Note: Although many of the traditional Food and Medicine plants are now commercially produced in various forms we recommend you research these before using them as any form of food or medicines. Some parts of the plant may not be edible or some may need to be prepared before they are safe to eat or use in any way. We do our best to describe their traditional & modern uses. It is the purchaser's responsibility for ensuring they are fit for their intended use.
