A rough barked tree growing to about 20 m in height, the bark is shed in short ribbons. Juvenile leaves are a dull grey-green and rounded, adult leaves lanceolate, 5–12 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide, green to grey-green.
White flowers appear in late summer to early autumn.
The species name acaciiformis is Latin for Acacia-like leaves.
Typically grows in poor shallow soil, on ridges and slopes, from north-eastern New South Wales to the Queensland border.
Prefers a light to medium well-drained soil in a protected sunny position, drought and frost resistant.
Although seed can be sown most of the year around if you avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year, the best time to sow is generally spring.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C
