A fast growing small to mid-sized tree with a rounded form to 8 metres in height and a spread of 4 metre.
Distinguished by its colourful blue-grey mottled bark and glossy dark green leaves, clusters of creamy white flowers occur in summer and autumn. A good choice for small gardens.
Indigenous to the Eyre peninsular South Australia.
Adaptable to a range of soils including heavy. Good clay tolerance.
Drought and frost tolerant to -8°C when established.
Although seed can be sown most of the year around if you avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year, the best time to sow is generally spring.
- The grow mix should be free draining preferably with some organic compost well mix through. This will replicate the soil they require in nature.
- Potting mix is not recommended.
- Sow fine seeds on the surface and cover lightly with the grow mix, do not bury the seed deeply.
- For larger seed sow to a depth of the seed size.
- Water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C
