Eucalyptus cylindrocarpa, also known as the woodline mallee, is a mallee that is native to Western Australia with mostly smooth bark, although it may have loose fibrous or flaky bark near the base of the trunk.
The adult leaves are linear to lance-shaped or curved, and the flower buds grow in groups of seven, nine, or eleven. The fruit is cylindrical to barrel-shaped.

The woodline mallee is a small tree or mallee that can grow up to 6 meters in height. It has reddish-brown bark that turns grey as it ages, and its narrow leaves are accompanied by cylindrical yellow flower buds that open to creamy white flowers in the summer.

Occurs naturally in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Coolgardie, Great Victoria Desert, Mallee, Murchison and Nullarbor in Western Australia.

Prefers sands or sandy loam in an open sunny position, drought and frost-resistant.

Suitable for arid, inland regions and revegetation.

Although seeds can be sown most of the year if you avoid the coldest and hottest months, spring is generally the best time to sow.
The grow mix should be well-draining, preferably with organic compost. This will replicate the soil they require in nature.

A potting mix is not recommended.

  • Sow fine seeds on the surface and cover lightly with the grow mix or vermicule. Do not bury the seed deeply.
  •  For larger seeds, sow to a depth of the seed size.
  • Water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.

Germination occurs in around 10-28 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty in discarding seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until conditions are like their natural germination requirements.
  • All seeds must have adequate water to germinate; keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • Customers should do their due diligence and ensure they are suited to their region.
