Eucalyptus sideroxylon rosea, commonly known as Pink Ironbark, is a magnificent native Australian tree that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your landscape.
It is one of the most well-known Ironbarks due to its striking pink to dark pink blossoms, which make it stand out from other eucalyptus species.
This evergreen tree is robust, adaptable, and has a tall, upright habit that not only provides visual appeal but also serves as a habitat for local wildlife.
Before opening to red from winter to summer, ovate flower buds occur profusely in groups of 2-7. The bark is deep brown to black, and the green foliage is used for the extraction of volatile oils.
Occurs naturally in the inland New South Wales and is hardy in a wide range of soils and climates it has become popular throughout Australia.
Prefers light to medium poor soil in an open sunny position, it is drought and frost-resistant.
Although seeds can be sown most of the year if you avoid the coldest and hottest months, spring is generally the best time to sow.
The grow mix should be well-draining, preferably with organic compost. This will replicate the soil they require in nature.
A potting mix is not recommended.
Germination occurs in around 10-28 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C
