MARIGOLD Court Jester -TAGETES patula

This old heirloom annual flower Court Jester marigold produces unusual stunning yellow and burgundy striped single blooms on long stems, making them a real eye-catcher. Recommended for containers, beds & borders, and the pollinator garden.
It is also useful for controlling insect pests in the vegetable garden.
The essential oil from Tagetes patula is used in perfumery.
Tagetes patulais are native to the highlands of central Mexico despite being often referred to as French marigolds.
Adaptable to most garden soils in an open sunny position.
The optimal time to plant marigolds in Australia is spring or early summer. This will allow ample time for the plants to establish their roots before the scorching summer sun arrives.
As marigolds are not frost-resistant, it is crucial to wait until the risk of frost has passed before planting them outdoors.
Tropical: Autumn, Winter and Spring

- Sow 5-6mm deep directly in the growing position
- If sowing in trays or containers, transplant when large enough to handle.
- For mass planting, scatter the seed and rake over just enough to cover the seed.
Germination: 7-10 days at 24-28°C
