An real eye catcher "Tiger Eyes" is a popular Marigold that has been gracing gardens for more than a century.

This fabulous marigold surprises and delights with big, bold "eyes" of deepest red and the brightest yellow. The flowers measure about 5cm across with single lower petals of smoky red and eye-catching, pompon-like upper petals of sunny yellow.

Marigold plants typically have a tendency to self-seed in gardens. They usually shed their seeds onto the soil towards the end of the season, which may sprout and grow independently in the following season.
To promote denser growth, stronger stems and more flowers, it's recommended to pinch out the growing tips of the marigold plants.

The optimal time to plant marigolds in Australia is spring or early summer. This will allow ample time for the plants to establish their roots before the scorching summer sun arrives.
As marigolds are not frost-resistant, it is crucial to wait until the risk of frost has passed before planting them outdoors.

  • Sow 5-6mm deep directly in the growing position
  • If sowing in trays or containers, transplant when large enough to handle.
  • For mass planting, scatter the seed and rake over just enough to cover the seed.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
