A very productive black passionfruit that produces an abundance of extremely sweet fruit with an intense flavour with a high pulp content.
A strong vigorous climber this Passionfruit is an excellent addition to the summertime fruit garden that is easy to grow and produces a large amount of fruits.
Passion fruit is a beneficial fruit for the health as it contains a high fibre content, high levels of vitamin A, which is important for skin, vision, and the immune system, and vitamin C, which is an important antioxidant.
Passionfruit is a warm-season crop, and you can sow its seeds directly in the garden or in containers from late autumn to the end of spring.
The ideal depth for sowing is 8mm, and you should keep the soil moist but not too wet or dry. It usually takes around 21-70 days for the seeds to germinate. You can speed up the process by soaking them in warm water for 24 hours before planting.
Place the seeds in a container with warm water (around 25°C) and let them soak for 24 hours before sowing them 6 mm deep.
Remember to water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbing the seed. After sowing, please keep them in a warm, shaded or semi-shaded position. Keep the growing mix warm and moist without letting it become waterlogged.
Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
