The pigeon pea is a very popular vegetable throughout the Caribbean and Central America, and can be used as any other pea might be used.

Sow: 25mm deep.
Soaking seed overnight prior to sowing helps with the up-take of moisture for germination. Best sown direct in growing position in moist soil.

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
Prefers a rich soil in a tropical, subtropical climate. Drought resistant but frost tender.
