Highly recommended for pollinator gardens flowers are very attractive to honey bees as well as other beneficial insects. Requires moderately moist soils.

This American wildflower thrives in rich soil, typically found in mountain meadows, forests, and along streams in southwestern USA.

The cinquefoil emblem, also known as the potentilla, was a symbol of strength, power, honor, and loyalty. This five-petalled flower was depicted as early as 1033 in the architecture of churches in France, two years before the reign of William the Conqueror. The cinquefoil emblem was widely used in the architectural designs of many churches built in Normandy and Brittany throughout the 15th century.

Potentilla seeds are small and should be sown shallowly.

The best time to sow Potentilla seed is generally winter and spring. Optimum germination temperatures 15-20°C
Sow the surface and cover very lightly as they need a degree of light to germinate keep the seed in a well-lit position but not in full sun.

  • If growing in trays, gently transplant them with they are large enough to handle.
  • If sowing directly into the ground scatter it over a weed-free area at a rate of gram/m² 0.2g and rake over lightly keeping moist.

Germination: 14-21 days at the optimum germination temperatures 15-20°C

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
