Sage is a robust perennial plant that can live for a long time and is originally from Spain and the Mediterranean region that produces attractive blue flowers. It grows woody stems and can reach a height of 45-70 cm when fully mature.
Historically it has medicinal and has been used for centuries for medicinal and culinary as an ingredient in dishes like poultry stuffings, fish, meat, sausages, pasta, soups, stews and potatoes.
Sage is also a great addition to beds, borders, pots, cottage gardens and, hedging and mass planting.
Sage thrives in well-draining soil with plenty of sunlight and its flowers attract bees and other beneficial insects.
Best to sow 5mm deep either directly in the ground or trays in Spring or after the last frost.
The optimum temperature for germination is 18-22°C
Tropical: Year-round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Germination: 14-21 days
